Death

Shadows crossing on the ground,
Fire rising in the skys.
Time Passing fast,
Motions going slow.
Shattering Images,
Falling down snow.
Darkness consuming all,
A little more to know.
The light closing in,
A fate going to be closed.
Strength withering away,
Giving up hope.
Time to meet the one,
That we all call Death.

Lord of the flies, Found poetry

A silver moon,
rose over the horizon.
Silver down on the water,(103)
Other lights in the sky.(106)

Flames mastering,
Branches.
Earth vibrating.
Smoke between the island
And the moon.
Fire was near,
Cries where nearer.(220)

A Hiss of dark,
A whisper of fear.(135)
Rolling over,
Trying to cry.
Looking up,(222)
The island,
Shuddering with flame.(223)

reflection 9

After i read the book i was quite sad with the ending, how immigrants where treated. the lady fell off the stairs and got injured badly but the ambulance people took it like nothing, they treated it like it was disgusting. This made the lady who had a chance of living die in the eyes of her neighbours. the book was some what boring BUT it also had very interesting parts. sometimes i would get bored, maybe my mind is more attracted to fantasy haha.

reflection 8

The children in the book always just want to be a pure canadian, when the grandma says "china in war agian" the sister would protest" theres no war in canada" but the grandma would always remind them " you china not canada, always war in china" the children want to be pure candians which are making them a banana; yellow outside, white inside.

reflection 7

the old grandmother was always likeing the small brother more how she calls the sister moh yong and that she would aways say its a waste for wong to buy her stuff. but somehow we still sense the love the grandma has for the sister.

reflection 6

The little sister didnt want to learn chinese nor did the other childs in the family, they perfer to think they are part of canada now and they should just be learning english  but poh-poh thinks they should not forget the 'oldways'.

reflection 5

The little sister seemed to really like old wong and that the old man liked the girl too,he would buy her stuff that her grandma would say is a 'waste'. they whent out to see movies and had fun together.

reflection 4

In china boys where always more impotant then girls, old people think girls are usless but to give birth to children and the children gets the family name of the males. meaning only boys can pass down the family. in the book poh-poh(grandma) is always calling the little sister moh-yong( no use) and the family treats the little brother like hes gold.

reflection 3

The childs in the family meet old bak wong, a old man who has a face like a monkey. their parents are afriad they will say something bad and unrespectfull to the old man. the sister then calles the old man monkey king and touches the old mans face, when the parents get scared the old man would get mad, he gets so happy he almost crys. no child was able to look at him not seeing him diffrent but the little sister, the toughtless spech of the child was what needed to touch his heart. I tought kind of sad how the old man couldnt even have anyone smile at him with out looking funny at his face. the sister who didnt care and even liked the old man, they became best firends.

reflection2

The sister in the story is the least fav child of the grandma, Granma always calls her no use(moyong) in the story. its very true since in china a lot of people like boys better then girls. the old grandparents are almost crazy about this. Poh-Poh also try's to teach the children in the old ways that they where rised.

The first reflection

The novel I choose to read is "The Jade Peony" by Wayson Choy. I chose to read this book because it tells a story about a chinese immigrant family's story in Chinatown, vancouver in the 30s and 40s. I want to learn how where the immigrants treated differently then today and how where their life's at the time. My inquiry questions would be about how where immigrants treated different and unfairly at the time.
